Millions of rolling ball candies recalled after child chokes to death

Millions of Slime Licker and Cocco rolling ball candies that are sold at Walmart, Five Below and other retailers have been recalled.

The recall was issued after a 7-year-old child choked to death when a ball became dislodged from the container.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), offered details about the recall.

The CPSC announced the recall of 70 million rolling ball candies.

Two companies have issued a voluntary recall of Slime Licker Sour Rolling Liquid Candy and Cocco Candy Rolling Candy.

The Candy Dynamics candies are sold in two types of containers — two and three ounces — and come in a variety of flavors.

The Slime Lickers and Cocco candy are both sold in a plastic bottle containing a liquid candy that is dispensed by licking a rolling ball on the top of the container.

Which candies are being recalled?

The Slime Lickers Candy comes in four flavors: Blue Razz, Strawberry, Sour Apple and Black Cherry.

The containers are blue, red, green and pink.

The labels have different names printed on the front: ‘TOXIC WASTE’, ‘SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy’, ‘MEGA TOXIC WASTE’ and ‘SLIME LICKER Sour Rolling Liquid Candy’.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission also shared the UPC codes of the candies to identify them.

The affected products are: Mega Slime Licker® Sour Rolling Liquid Candy (Blue Razz & Strawberry) 3 oz., UPC 8-98940-00169-6.

Slime Licker® Sour Rolling Liquid Candy (Black Cherry & Sour Apple) 2 oz., UPC 8-50034-59720-1.

Slime Licker® Sour Rolling Liquid Candy (Blue Razz & Strawberry) 2 oz., UPC 0-60631-91829-7.

Slime Licker® Sour Rolling Liquid Candy (Blue Razz & Strawberry) 2 oz., UPC 8-98940-00101-6 and 2 oz. 2-pack, UPC 8-98940-00191-7.

Cocco Candy Rolling Candy also recalled

According to the CPSC, the recalled Cocco Candy Rolling Candy comes in three flavors.

They are: Cocco Candy Strawberry Flavored Rolling Candy, Cocco Candy Tutti Frutti Flavored Rolling Candy and Cocco Candy Cola Flavored Rolling Candy.

They are distributed by KGR Distribution Corp. and were sold online and at stores nationwide from May 2022 through March 2023.

What to do if you have any of the recalled Candy Dynamics rolling ball candies

If you have any of these products they should be kept out of reach of children.

You may receive a full refund if you any have Slime Lickers or Cocco Candy containers that still contain liquid.

The CPSC also noted that consumers should contact the manufacturers.

They will offer free shipping for the return of non-empty products.

These candies were sold online and at stores across the country, including Walmart, Five Below and Amazon.

The Slime Lickers Rolling Ball Candy was sold from June 2015 until July 2023, according to CPSC.
