The 28-year-old was crowned this Wednesday by Hawaii Governor Josh Green in a ceremony in Honolulu.

Savannah Gankiewicz expressed her feelings about the tremendous honor of being crowned Miss USA in a message.

She said: «While this decision was not made lightly, I firmly believe that this opportunity was meant for me and I am ready to make a positive impact with this organization that I hold dear to my heart,» she said.

While the previous Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, said that one of her reasons for resigning was to prioritize her mental health, something about her successor stands out.

At the Waikiki hotel, the 28-year-old commented: » I understand, the importance of prioritizing your well-being and advocating for those in need.»

«I believe that the true change starts from within and I am determined to lead by example and empower the class of 2024 and beyond,» she added.

It is worth noting that the previous Miss USA alleged that abuse and pressure from pageant officials was undermining her mental health.

She claimed that Miss USA management did not provide her with accommodations on her trips, or an effective handler.

Noelia Voigt claimed to have experienced sexual harassment at a Christmas parade in Florida.

To date, a new Miss Teen USA has been named after UmaSofia Srivastava also resigned claiming mistreatment.
