Paul Di’Anno, former vocalist of Iron Maiden, passed away at the age of 66 at his home in Wiltshire, England, as confirmed by his family and the record label Conquest Music.

The British musician had been battling severe health issues in recent years, which forced him to perform in a wheelchair for much of the past decade.

Recently, he had shown signs of improvement after undergoing knee surgery in Croatia, where he had an emotional reunion with Bruce Dickinson, who replaced him in Iron Maiden in 1981.

Despite his fragile health, Di’Anno performed in over 100 shows since 2023, demonstrating his dedication to the fans who followed him throughout his career.

In September 2024, he released The Book of the Beast, his first compilation album, featuring the greatest hits of his musical career post-Iron Maiden.

Paul Andrews, known professionally as Paul Di’Anno, was born on May 17, 1958, in Chingford, East London, and rose to fame as Iron Maiden’s vocalist between 1978 and 1981.

During his time with the band, Di’Anno was the voice behind two of heavy metal’s most influential albums: Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981).

After leaving the group due to personal issues, Di’Anno continued his career with several bands and projects, including Battlezone, Killers, and solo work.

With Battlezone, he released albums such as Fighting Back (1986) and Children of Madness (1987), while with Killers, he shined with the album Murder One (1992).

Throughout his long career, he collaborated with notable musicians from the NWOBHM scene, such as Pete Willis of Def Leppard, and released multiple albums under his own name.
