“When I was working part-time at Univision, I got a job offer from a radio station to host their morning show,” Pamela Silva explained.

Excited about the opportunity, she approached her boss to seek permission to juggle both roles.

“I said, ‘Would you allow me to work there? I want to continue working part-time here at Univision, my dream company,’” she recalled.

“‘But I also want to work full-time in the mornings at this other radio station,’” added the Peruvian presenter.

Her supervisor’s response was firm: “I’m sorry, but we also have radio stations, and it’s a conflict of interest. I can’t allow it.”

This refusal led to a moment of frustration and tears for Pamela Silva. “I cried,” she admitted during the interview.

Despite the initial disappointment, Silva came to understand the wisdom behind her boss’s decision over time.

Although it felt like a closed door, she realized that her boss was acting in her best interest.

“Don’t get distracted by this temptation if that’s not what you ultimately want to do,” she remembered her boss saying.

“Trust me. It doesn’t sound good right now, but I believe in you, believe in me, and in the long run, it will be worth it,” he added.

These words became a guiding principle for Silva, who now acknowledges that this advice kept her focused on her true aspirations.

Pamela Silva reflects on that rejection as one of the most valuable lessons of her life. “It was such an important lesson,” she emphasized.

“Once you identify what you want and discover your passion, focus on that,” she shared on the podcast.
