A tragedy like something out of a movie occurred recently at a zoo in western Michigan.

A 27-year-old employee was working in the giraffe enclosure at the family-owned Deer Tracks Junction Adventure Park when he died.

Tyler Powell fell from a 6-foot ladder according to the zoo’s social media post.

Following the accident that resulted in the death of the zoo employee, the zoo owners shared a post on Facebook.

«It has been humbling seeing all your comments and messages of prayer for Tyler and our family.»

They added that, despite their «heavy hearts,» they are thankful that the young man is at peace in heaven.

«We are still working hard to move forward with opening by the end of this month,» the post continues.

Tyler Powell died while working at a family-owned zoo in western Michigan.

According to The Detroit News, Tyler was working with his father, Kelly, in a giraffe enclosure. The animal had been moved to another empty enclosure.

Powell fell from a ladder onto concrete. His father saw the fall but was unable to catch him.

He was taken to a hospital with a traumatic brain injury. The zoo’s business development manager created a GoFundMe campaign to help Tyler’s family.
