Newman was diagnosed with the disease in 2006, at the age of 50.
Interestingly, he was the only Baywatch actor who had worked as a lifeguard in real life.
He appeared in 150 episodes of the show, second only to the lead star, David Hasselhoff.
While acting in Baywatch, Newman was also a full-time firefighter.
Michael Newman’s battle with Parkinson’s was highlighted in the recent documentary Baywatch: Moment in the Sun.
In an interview with People in August, Newman reflected on his terminal illness.
“This disease has given me a lot of time to think, which maybe I didn’t want, but it has given me wisdom,” Newman said.
He added that, although his body had slowly changed, Parkinson’s had become the central focus of his life.
The Baywatch actor emphasized that he cherishes the days he can spend with family and friends.
“I’m taking life seriously,” he stated.
