Marcos Sandoval was shot to death in Los Angeles, California while he was walking his dog in his Mid-City neighborhood. The Homicide Division of Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the brutal crime.

The brutal murder of Marcos Sandoval was captured on video by security cameras on the street. The man was simply walking through the neighborhood. He had with no concerns other than enjoying a walk with his fluffy white dog, Toro.

The dog loving Hispanic community of Los Angeles, California is in mourning after the murder of 52-year-old Marcos Antonio Sandoval Jiménez. The man was well known for his love of dogs and his neighbors saw him leave every morning accompanied by Toro.

As of this writing, LAPD Homicide Division detectives have no leads in the Marcos Sandoval murder. The key piece is the video footage that captured the brutal attack.

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 5:47 in the morning, the residents of Mid-City, a vital area in downtown Los Angeles, saw their neighbor Marcos Sandoval pass by on the street like he did every day. The neighborhood is known for being cultural, artistic and non-violent.

Marcos Sandoval was walking with little Toro on the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street when suddenly a dark sedan pulled up next to him. The driver of the car and Marcos Sandoval started talking, although it is not known why.

A neighbor found the wounded man on the street

Suddenly, the driver of the sedan pulled out a gun and fired several shots at Marco Sandoval, who fell to the sidewalk. After unloading the gun at him, the murderer left the scene of the crime at full speed. Toro, the dog, got scared and ran back to his house.

A neighbor who was walking by discovered the injured man and called the police to report the emergency. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the call. Tragically, the paramedics were unable to save Marcos Sandoval’s life.

The murderer sped off after the shooting

The report from the LAPD Homicide Division details that the detectives who first arrived on the scene were able to recover videos from nearby security cameras. They revealed the entire sequence Marcos Sandoval’s murder.

After unloading his weapon into Marcos Sandoval, the killer returned to his vehicle and escaped down Genesee Avenue heading north to the Los Angeles metropolitan area. That video is crucial to being able to identify and apprehend the killer.

Marcos Sandoval was a beloved and respected neighbor

At the corner of Genesee Avenue and Saturn Street, where Marcos Sandoval died, the man’s neighbors, friends and family have gathered for two days to hold vigils in his honor. He was a respected and beloved Mid-City resident.

“We do not have a clear motive so far”

Marcos Sandoval’s family spoke to the media at a vigil held for the man on Sunday, March 13, 2022. Family members told reporters that Sandoval had no enemies or conflicts with anyone.

LAPD 2nd Lt. John Radtke also attended the vigil for Marcos Sandoval and said the neighborhood in which he was killed is a peaceful area without high rates of major crime. «We don’t have a clear motive so far,» 2nd Lieutenant Radtke reported.

“He was tragically and unfairly separated from our family”

Nayelli Aquino, cousin of the murdered man, started a GoFundMe: Marcos Antonio Sandoval Jimenez. He is asking for help from the community so the family can cover the costs of the man’s funeral.

“My beloved cousin…was tragically and unfairly separated from our family on Saturday morning, March 12, 2022. He went out like every morning with our dog Toro for his morning walk, only that day he did not return home,” revealed Nayelli Aquino.

He was «brutally murdered»

Aquino stated that, “His family began to look for him after a frantic Toro returned by himself that morning , shortly after having been looking for him we got the most heartbreaking news that he had been brutally gunned down only two blocks away from home.”

“It is my sincerest wish to please ask if we can kindly help Mrs . Sandoval and her daughters, ease a minimal amount of their pain by helping raise some money to help cover some funeral cost, our goal is 10,000 but anything we get is greatly appreciated. Let’s bring back some hope to these ladies,” concludes Sandoval’s cousin.
