The world of Hispanic music is in mourning once again.
In the early hours of Tuesday, November 26, it was confirmed that Manny Delgado, a celebrated musician and composer, had passed away.
He was the creator of iconic songs such as Viejo Año, Amigo, and Son Mis Deseos.
His work was recorded by renowned artists, including Marc Anthony and La Sonora Santanera.
May Manny Delgado Rest in Peace
Before his death, Juan Manuel Delgado Álvarez served as the president of the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Venezuela (SACVEN).
Although the news of his passing was revealed on Tuesday, Manny Delgado actually passed away on Friday, November 22, at a private clinic.

It is known that he lost his life after battling an illness, though no further details were shared.
For his song Hasta Ayer, performed by Marc Anthony, Manny Delgado received the ASCAP award in 1997. That same night, he was also honored for the song Volverás.
Through its social media accounts, SACVEN bid farewell to Manny Delgado.
“Manny undoubtedly belongs to the sentimental musical family tree of every Venezuelan household,” read one of their posts.
The organization also highlighted that the harpist and instrumentalist collaborated with numerous national and international artists.
«Over 350 songs are part of his repertoire, projecting the country’s music in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico, and the United States.”
One song that immediately comes to mind when Manny Delgado’s name is mentioned is Viejo Año.
In addition to Marc Anthony and La Sonora Santanera, other groups like Betulio and Maracaibo 15 performed his compositions.
Through its official Instagram account, SACVEN shared a heartfelt farewell message to the «maestro.»
“You leave us physically, but your musical and human legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those of us who grew up and lived to the rhythm of your talent.”
