Kimberlee Singler, a 35-year-old mother from Colorado, is accused of killing two of her children, ages 9 and 7.

The Colorado Springs Police Department reported that Kimberlee Singler was arrested on Saturday, December 30 in the United Kingdom.

Singler is the main suspect in a dark and disturbing episode that has shocked the community. She has been charged with first degree murder in the death of her two youngest children.

On Saturday, Singler was detained after her initial appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

A hearing was scheduled for January 29 to consider her possible extradition to the United States, according to the EFE agency.

The charges she faces include two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, three counts of child abuse and one count of assault.

The tragedy occurred on December 19, 2023, when Colorado Springs police responded to a report of a robbery at their home.

Kimberlee Singler was arrested and indicted for murder

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered Singler’s children, ages 9 and 7, dead, and her 11-year-old daughter injured.

This triggered an investigation and Singler, who originally cooperated with authorities, fled to the U.K.

She had been involved in a custody dispute with her ex-husband and disappeared after she became a suspect in the terrible crime.

Before her arrest in the U.K., she was last seen in Colorado Springs on December 23, The Associated Press noted.

The investigation into the children’s murder

Authorities were unable to find Singler after obtaining an arrest warrant Tuesday on charges of murder and attempted murder, among other accusations.

Singler had not been under surveillance according to Ira Cronin, spokesman for the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police had been attempting to contact her for further questioning prior to her arrest in the U.K.

Singler appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 1 to face the charges against her.

Multiple police agencies are cooperating on the case

According to The Associated Press, Singler was initially considered a robbery victim and cooperated with authorities.

She became a suspect when investigators found her initial claims of robbery to be «unfounded.»

Authorities did not provide further details about the U.K. arrest but said they were working with multiple law enforcement agencies.

The BBC reported that her oldest daughter has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering in Colorado Springs.

Details of Kimberlee Singler’s arrest

The children’s death occurred in the midst of an ongoing custody battle between Singler and her ex-husband Kevin Wentz, EFE reported.

Singler had been ordered to allow her ex to have visitation with the children just before they were killed.

The case, initially treated as a robbery, took a dark turn as more details were revealed, prompting authorities to shift their focus to Singler as the perpetrator.

It is now believed she is responsible for the deaths of two of her young children.
