The humanitarian parole program suspended by Joe Biden’s administration could be reactivated this week, according to two sources who informed NBC News.

This program allows 360,000 people per year from Haiti, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba to reside and work in the United States.

The suspension was to investigate allegations of massive fraud.

The federal government announced a «temporary pause» in July while reviewing the applications of sponsors.

Sponsors are responsible for financially supporting the immigrants.

A Homeland Security report revealed that 101,000 humanitarian parole applications were submitted by 3,218 sponsors.

Thousands of cases were found where sponsors used the same addresses and Social Security numbers, including those of deceased persons.

It is also unclear whether human trafficking is involved, but it is suspected due to the small number of sponsors.

The government plans to manually review applications with improved procedures.

The goal is to reactivate the humanitarian parole program soon to discourage illegal crossings by immigrants.

More than 2.6 million migrants have applied to enter the U.S. through the CHNV program.

Over 530,000 immigrants were authorized to travel under the humanitarian parole program until July.

It is not clear how many of the applicants arrived with the help of suspicious sponsors.
