Instead of recovering, Teresa Lazo Johnson died under shocking circumstances.

It turns out that this shaman, according to her husband Justin Johnson, gave her a poison from a dangerous Amazonian frog to drink.

He told her this would ease her depression and anxiety.

It didn’t take much time for her to develop alarming symptoms after consuming the drink.

She ended up in the hospital

In an interview with Univision, Justin stated that his wife Teresa Lazo Johnson began vomiting excessively so they went to the hospital.

Once there, he was informed that there was not much they could do, as the poison took effect immediately and caused brain death.

Teresa’s family quickly initiated legal proceedings against this supposed shaman, whose name was not revealed.

The autopsy indicated that she had ingested kambó, a poison found in a dangerous Amazonian frog.

Weeks after this tragedy, and with the autopsy results in hand, one of Teresa Lazo Johnson’s siblings spoke out.

In an interview with journalist Millie Delgado, Javier Lazo stated that, in addition to the arrest of the supposed shaman, they want something more.

The young woman’s family seeks to have these rituals made illegal.

Javier, along with his siblings, hopes that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will take action.

According to Univisión, Teresa Lazo Johnson’s brother said that the police weren’t familiar with kambó.

«Investigators don’t know how to proceed with this case because they’ve never had one like it before,» Javier Lazo said.

He said that authorities were still trying to figure out how they could charge the supposed shaman.

«They are not certified, they do not have a license, and they are killing people. And that’s what we want to stop,» he concluded.
