How did Adriana Laffan die ?

On November 1 we received sad news that cast a shadow over the Mexican entertainment world.

Almost two months after turning 63, the renowned actress — who was primarily known starring in soap operas Adriana Laffan, passed away.

The cause of her death was revealed days later. May she rest in peace.

A native of Mexico City, where she was born on September 4, 1960, Adriana Laffan is remembered for playing Betsy Corcuera de De La Riva.

This character, described as a genuine psychopath, wreaked havoc in the soap opera La Sombra del Otro.

The scene where she decides to end her life by throwing herself from the balcony of her apartment was simply stunning.

La Sombra which premiered in 1996, featured stellar actors like Alejandro Camacho and Edith González.

It is worth noting that Adriana Laffan studied acting at the National Institute of Fine Arts (INBA) under distinguished teachers.

At the age of 17, she made her debut in the film Cuartelazo, while her first soap opera was El Combate, released in 1980.

She was married to actor Jesús Arriaga, with whom she had two children, María José and Emiliano.

Her daughter revealed how Adriana Laffan died.

According to TV y Novelas, actress Adriana Laffan was hospitalized for 11 days for what seemed like a routine flu.

Her daughter María José, also known as Majo, said that her mother’s health began to deteriorate after she started having severe coughing fits.

In short, the artist had pneumonia that worsened to the point where she couldn’t breathe.

However, Majo was able to say goodbye to her mother, who appeared in productions such as Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real and Cachún Cachún Ra Ra.

Adriana Laffan’s daughter told TV Notas what her mother’s last days were like.

She said it was all very sudden and started as a flu, so they decided to take her to the hospital on October 21.

«That day (November 1), she had been sleeping since the day before, and I saw her like a flame that is slowly going out,» Majo said.

Finally, she said she kissed her and hugged her: «I told her I would always love her.»

The National Association of Actors (ANDA) announced Adriana Laffan’s death on Instagram, although they did not mention her cause of death.

Two of the first celebrities to react to the sad news were actresses Diana Ferreti and Joana Benedek.

«Rest in peace. Blessings, Adriana,» wrote Cecilia Gabriela, while Ricardo Silva described her as a beautiful human being.

«Our condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues,» reads the message shared by ANDA.
