- Hispanic Woman Sentenced to 78 Years in Prison for Murdering Her Daughters
- She Murdered Her Daughters in Cold Blood.
- Verónica’s case shocks.
A mother’s job is to take care of her children, but Argentine Verónica Youngblood did not see it that way and coldly planned the worst of crimes in Virginia; to end the lives of her only two daughters.
«Her mother came into the room and said, ‘I’ll take you to see God,’ and then she shot her,» testified one of the officers who approached the scene and was able to speak with one of the victims.
It was on August 8, 2018, when the Hispanic woman decided to carry out what had been on her mind for weeks: the murder of her daughters, Brooklynn, 5 years old; and Sharon, 15.
«There are truly no words that can describe the depravity with which Mrs. Youngblood planned and carried out the execution of her daughters,» said Kelsey Gill, the prosecutor.
Hispanic commits brutality

The Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney of Fairfax County, during the trial, said that before going to sleep that night, she gave them gummies laced with melatonin to ensure they would fall into a deep sleep.
The plan was to shoot them while they were asleep. Verónica did not hesitate and coldly shot them.
The younger girl was shot in the head and died instantly, while her sister first took a bullet in the back. After surviving that shot, she was wounded again in the chest.
«I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die,» those words echoed throughout the courtroom.
Her daughter begged for help

They were the pleas of Sharon, who, while dying, called 9-1-1 and asked for help, stating that her mother had just shot her.
Her recorded call was played during the trial.
The arrest of the Hispanic woman took place the same night at her apartment in McLean. She confessed to her crime, but at the initial trial, she pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
Investigations suggest that the crime was premeditated by the Hispanic woman as an act of revenge against her ex-husband, who was set to move to Missouri following a lengthy custody battle.
Face the law

Five years later, the trial resumed. «This case goes far beyond simply having a mental illness,» the prosecutor stated.
The Argentine woman was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of using a firearm to commit murder.
The jury found Youngblood guilty. The hispanic woman was sentenced to 78 years in prison.
The judge hopes that the prison sentence can bring some peace to the family, because «there is no verdict that can give these children their lives back.»
