George Sanchez was found lying on the stairs
According to detectives of the NYPD Homicide Division, the body of musician George Sánchez was lying on the stairs of his building between the second and third floors. The detectives don’t know if the artist was returning to his house or he was leaving.
However, despite doctors fighting to save George Sanchez’s life in the emergency room, the man didn’t survive his injuries. The talented musician was pronounced dead within minutes of arriving at the Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn.

Building janitor Charles Ramos told Homicide Division detectives the shooting had stemmed from a dispute between George Sanchez and other residents over one of the parking spaces. The two lines of investigation are already being followed by NYPD agents.

Janitor Charles Ramos spoke to the New YorkDaily News after the brutal murder of George Sánchez. The janitor told the newspaper that the musician had bought the apartment in that area of Brooklyn, New York, seven years ago.
Ramos revealed that George Sánchez had his recording studio in his house. The man was well liked among the other residents for his kindness and friendliness. At music festivals in the neighborhood, he always lent a hand by providing the sound equipment for free, the janitor said.

Violete Galagarza, dancer and choreographer, also spoke with the New YorkDaily News to remember her friend George Sánchez, whom she described as a «loving and respectful» person, who loved making music with his guitar and spreading joy among other human beings.
Galagarza said that her friend George Sánchez was very happy on stage and, above all, he was always very proud to represent the Hispanic community in the United States. Sánchez had also started his career as a video director and entrepreneur with a clothing brand, the choreographer explained.
‘Brooklyn Bishop’s life was taken from us’
Roberto Benenati, relative of the murdered artist, started the GoFundMe #JusticeForBishop to raise funds for the nonprofit organization LIFE Camp, which fights gun violence in Hispanic neighborhoods.
“We are the family of Brooklyn Bishop, also known as George Sanchez. Brooklyn Bishop’s life was taken from us…by a senseless act of gun violence. He was shot twice in his building, while he was going down the stairs of his apartment,” Benenati details in his plea.
George Sánchez filled his loved ones with music and joy
“Brooklyn Bishop was an artist, musician, brother, son and a vibrant part of our family. He blessed us with his 43 years of love, laughter, creativity and music. Our family is torn apart by this act of violence. George is survived by his older brothers, his mother and his father,” Roberto Benenati wrote.
“We are celebrating his beautiful life with a memorial service and tribute. We would like to invite anyone interested to make a donation… the remaining funds will be donated to LIFE Camp, an organization on the front lines of the fight against gun violence in our communities,” concluded Sánchez’s family.
