Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris and daughter of Doug Emhoff, has come forward to clarify what happened after her stepmother’s defeat.

It all began when a photo of Ella crying during Harris’s concession speech after the presidential elections, which confirmed Donald Trump’s victory, circulated on social networks.

Speculations about a possible emotional crisis for Ella quickly spread, hinting that she had suffered a nervous breakdown and had even been hospitalized.

With 226 votes, Kamala Harris lost to the Republican, who garnered around 312 votes.

ELLA EMHOFF BREAKS SILENCE ON SUPPOSED HOSPITALIZATION

Ella responded to the rumors on Saturday through her Instagram stories, denying the claims.

She also emphasized that there was no nervous breakdown or hospitalization involved.

«Okay, I’m going to say it. There’s a rumor that I had a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized. It’s not true,» she wrote on the platform, accompanied by a mirror selfie.

The model and designer also reflected on the importance of mental health and emotional expression.

«There’s nothing wrong with showing emotions and crying,» she declared.

«Anyone who says otherwise probably needs to cry,» she concluded with this message.

Ella wanted to normalize the expression of feelings like crying in difficult moments.

Especially when it comes to events with a heavy emotional load like the results of presidential elections.

Ella admitted that she has had to deal with her mental health throughout her life, which she does not consider a cause for shame.

Following Harris’s defeat, she continues to process her emotions and adapt to the situation.

In her posts, she detailed that, to cope with the moment, she has resumed her daily routine, including simple activities that keep her connected to reality.

Among these, she highlighted the time she spends playing fetch with her dog Jerry, which she shared with her followers through an image showing the dog attentively looking at a blue toy in her hand.

Meanwhile, Kerstin, Ella’s mother and Doug Emhoff’s ex-wife, also spoke out in defense of her daughter.

Through her account on X (formerly Twitter), she labeled the fake news as «MAGA nonsense.»

This in reference to some supporters of the President-elect Donald Trump, and she asked for respect for her family. «Leave my kids alone,» Kerstin wrote.

«Ella is doing very well and is spending a lovely day with her mom. Having the ability to show our emotions is something we should all hope for. It’s okay not to feel great right now.»
