In March 2021, information was provided by Mexican authorities that a body left on a bench in the Jardín Hidalgo de Tlaquepaque was identified as Carlos Enrique Sánchez, alleged leader of the Nueva Plaza Cartel.
The details of El Cholo’s autopsy report shocked them.
According to El Sol de México the incident occurred when Carlos Enrique Sánchez, alias “El Cholo” was captured by members of his rival group, the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) led by Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, or «El Mencho».
El Cholo was found on a bench with a sign saying ‘Traitor’
El Cholo’s body was found on a bench, wrapped in bags and with signs stuck to it with knives. He had been shot to death. Hours before he was murdered, a video circulated on social media.
In the recording, El Cholo claimed responsibility for incidents such as the grenade attack on the U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara as well as the recent massacre in Tonalá that left 11 dead.
El Cholo, with armed men in the background, stated that he had the support of the Guadalajara police.
The criminal leader also said that he was supported by Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City, to face the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación, according to La Verdad Noticias.
El Cholo was the next to be killed
Carlos Enrique Sánchez Martínez alias El Cholo, who was allegedly captured by his rivals from the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG), was part of that criminal group at some point.
In March 2017 there was a rupture within the organization led by El Mencho and from then on El Cholo formed his own criminal group called the Nueva Plaza Cartel, according to La Verdad Noticias.
The fracture occurred after the murder of a man nicknamed «El Colombiano», who was an alleged financial operator of the CJNG. His murder occurred in the parking lot of a supermarket in Puerto Vallarta.
It would have been ordered by El Cholo.
Was his death revenge by El Mencho?
Sánchez Martínez was one of the people close to El Mencho and knowing the criminal structure of the CJNG, decided to start his own criminal organization opposed to that of his former boss, according to La Verdad.
The conflict between the two drug cartels led to a wave of violence.
However, the consequences for separating from El Mencho were tragic and horrifying because El Cholo’s autopsy reveals that there is no limit to Nemesio Oseguera’s revenge on enemies, especially if it was someone who betrayed him.

It also indicates that his eyes were extracted, the bones of eight toes were broken and one was severed.
Allegedly his tongue was pulled out and not cut. He also had four deep wounds and in the head and bullet wounds, according to La Opinión.
