The father and son were arrested in San Antonio, Texas, at almost midnight on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Savanah Soto, 18, and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra, 22, were found murdered in a car on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
Sgt. Washington Moscoso, of the Homicide Division, held a press conference after the arrest of Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado.

Christopher Preciado, 19, and Ramón Preciado, 53, are at the center of one of the most dramatic cases in Texas criminal history.
The murders made national headlines, since Savanah Soto was days away from giving birth when she was killed.
Christopher Preciado is charged with capital murder and his father, Ramon Preciado, faces a charge of abuse of a corpse and helping to move the bodies.
According to San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), the crime was the result of a «drug transaction» gone wrong.
Christopher Preciado could face the death penalty
Sgt. Washington Moscoso, of the SAPD, revealed Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado were identified thanks to Savanah Soto’s cell phone.
According to authorities, Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra were murdered sometime on the night of December 21, 2023.
The Texas State Penal Code details that the charge of capital murder, like the one Christopher Preciado faces, is punishable by the death penalty.
Another key that led to the arrest of Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado were several videos on the security cameras where the bodies were discovered.
Ramón Preciado helped his son move the bodies after the murder
The apartment complex where the bodies were discovered is not where the murders took place.
Christopher Preciado killed Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra at another location and then Ramón Preciado helped him take them to the parking lot.
So far, it is unclear who was purchasing the drugs and who was selling them. The authorities are no longer looking for more people related to the crime.
SAPD officers stated that the Bexar County District Attorney could file more charges against Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado.
Savanah Soto’s phone was the key to solving the case
During the SAPD Homicide Division investigation, their colleagues from the Computer Crimes Division accessed Savanah Soto’s phone.
Based on this information, detectives were able to locate where she was just before her death.
Several SAPD detectives went to the address and were surprised when Ramón Preciado calmly answered the door, apparently knowing why they were there.
Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado were also identified on surveillance footage in the area where the bodies were found.
A Texas community was in suspense after the tragic murders
Based on this evidence, detectives from the SAPD Homicide Division were able to charge Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado in the brutal crime.
Additionally, detectives located the pick-up truck seen on the surveillance video.
Christopher Preciado and Ramón Preciado were taken to SAPD headquarters and during their interrogation, they admitted their roles in the crime.
Sgt. Washington Moscoso did not reveal if authorities recovered the murder weapon.
