New details have emerged about the cause of death of Mia Campos, a 16-year-old girl from Loganville whose body was found in a forest during the summer.
The autopsy report revealed that the cause of her death was «neck compression asphyxiation.»
Jesús Monroy, Campos’ ex-boyfriend, is accused of killing her when she was seven months pregnant.
Monroy was initially arrested for providing false statements to the police, but the charges were later escalated.
Monroy Faces Serious Charges and Aided in Mia Campos’ Search
He now faces charges of malice murder, first-degree murder, feticide, and aggravated assault, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
The last time Mia Campos was seen was on July 14, captured by a doorbell camera as she left home with an unknown individual.
Her family used a phone tracking app to locate her after she failed to return home, eventually finding her body near their home on July 15.
Monroy, who had helped the family in the search for Mia, is now being accused of responsibility for the crime.
Eduardo Campos, Mia’s father, stated: «I knew he was guilty that day; he didn’t cry for his child.»
Mia Campos’ family is now demanding justice and for Monroy to be held accountable for his crime.

Monroy was released on a $50,000 bond in August and is required to wear an ankle monitor and remain at home.
Additionally, he is prohibited from contacting potential witnesses and has surrendered his passport to authorities.
