The U.S. Justice system has decided to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin for involuntary manslaughter during the filming of the movie ‘Rust.’
This decision has generated shock and relief among those close to the actor.
On Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer determined that the prosecution had concealed crucial evidence that could have changed the course of the case, according to Efe.
This led to an «irreparable violation» of Baldwin’s right to due process.

In a statement, Judge Sommer asserted that the state had failed in its duty to «disclose critical evidence to the defendant.»
This omission caused an «unnecessary» and «incurable» delay for the trial.

«The only way to remedy this error is by dismissing the case,» the judge concluded, according to Efe.
This decision puts an end to a legal nightmare Alec Baldwin has faced since the tragic incident in October 2021.
Upon hearing the decision, Baldwin broke down in tears, reflecting the intense stress and pressure he has endured during these months.
His wife, Hilaria Baldwin, and his siblings Stephen and Beth, who have accompanied him throughout the week, also visibly showed their emotions.
The Baldwin family left the Santa Fe court without making statements to the press, maintaining a low profile amid the media storm surrounding them.
Baldwin, 66, was facing the possibility of 18 months in jail for an involuntary manslaughter charge related to the death of Halyna Hutchins, the director of photography for ‘Rust.’
The tragic incident occurred when Baldwin, during a rehearsal, accidentally fired a Colt 45 revolver that contained live ammunition, something prohibited on film sets.
Baldwin’s attorney, Alex Spiro, filed a motion accusing the prosecution of hiding fundamental evidence.
According to Spiro, this evidence could have implicated the production’s prop supplier, Seth Kenney, shifting the blame initially placed on Baldwin.
The defense argued that the state had focused its investigation on implicating Baldwin without considering other possible responsibilities.
