Bullet Train, the action comedy starring Brad Pitt and Bad Bunny, led the weekend box office in the US. However, with a timid $30 million, it was the worst weekend of the summer for movie sales, according to EFE.
The release of this film, which has cost Sony Pictures more than $90 million, has been somewhat hampered by its «R» rating in the US. This means kids under 17 can’t see the movie without a parent or guardian.
Bullet Train has a unique style

With a unique style, Bullet Train adapts a homonymous novel by Kotaro Isaka that follows a hitman, played by Brad Pitt, in the midst of an existential crisis. He embarks on a journey on a Japanese bullet train with the sole mission of recovering a valuable abandoned suitcase.
What the protagonist does not expect is that some of the most prominent hitmen on the planet are traveling on board that high-speed train, each one focused on their objective. That is, until quarrels, enmities and even shared clients pop up and create crazy, bloody chaos.
The animated film DC League of Super-Pets followed Bullet Train at the box office

Brad Pitt’s profitability is not in question since, as Box Office Mojo points out, films starring the well-known actor tend to perform better in foreign markets. They are also expected to benefit from Bad Bunny’s commercial pull, as he’s the most listened to artist in the world over the last two years.
US theaters closed the summer premiere season with the first weekend that grossed less than $100 million, something that has not happened since 2021, when theaters were still operating under pandemic restrictions. Behind Bullet Train was the animated DC League of Super-Pets, which pulled in $11 million.
Brad Pitt rules out imminent retirement

Brad Pitt clarified that his recent comments about a possible retirement were misunderstood, as he still has quite a few projects on the horizon: “It seems that it was interpreted as a retirement declaration. But that’s not what I meant… I wanted to say is that I am already facing the last stretch, the last season,” he said.
In a recent interview with GQ the Fight Club star said that he felt that he was in the last semester of his career, causing retirement buzz. However, Pitt has several projects coming up. His next film, Babylon, will once again focus on the Hollywood of the past, just like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
Bullet Train is ‘a comedy with the air of a thriller’

«I go from movie to movie, and the last thing I did defines what I’m going to do next,» he reiterated. As a producer, he is also working on numerous films, as he likes to promote new talent and believes that he does not necessarily have to play an acting role in such projects. Unlike many colleagues, he said, he is unconcerned about where his films may be shown. He not only wants to see his projects in big theaters, but he is open to all opportunities.
“I like both streaming platforms and movie theaters. The movies were becoming so expensive… Or they were huge or very intimate projects, and it seemed that there was no room left for anything else. The platforms have opened the ground for other voices,” he said. Pitt’s current project is Bullet Train, a comedy with the air of a thriller on board a train between Tokyo and Kyoto in which seven hitmen cross paths and try to get out of the way, according to Agencia Reforma.
