Minor injuries reported after a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train derailment in Concord, California. Authorities reported the accident through the official Twitter account of the San Francisco Bay area Metropolitan Transit Authority.

“BART service stopped between Pleasant Hill and Concord in the Antioch and SFO directions due to an equipment issue on a train,” BART Alert reported on Twitter. Shortly after, through the official BART account, it was reported that the service was suspended in both directions.

Service was suspended due to a «reported derailment on a train» according to the authorities. Around 6 p.m., BART personnel, the BART Police Department and firefighters, were reported to have responded to the scene following the derailment.

No serious injuries were reported and the evacuation began «safely» around 6 p.m. Later, around 6:30 in the evening, the firefighters reported that all the passengers had been evacuated and the emergency teams were evaluating the condition of the passengers.

“All passengers on the BART train that derailed in Concord have been safely removed. ConFire EMS units working to assess passengers for injuries,» the fire department said on Twitter. BART expressed appreciation for the support of the emergency teams. According to ABC 7 News, some passengers were treated for minor injuries.
