Emmanuel Latte Lath had a dream debut in Major League Soccer (MLS), scoring two goals in Atlanta United’s 3-2 victory over CF Montreal in the season opener.
The 26-year-old Ivorian striker justified his record-breaking $22 million signing by making an immediate impact on the field.
His first goal came in the 42nd minute, when he headed in a corner kick from Saba Lobjanidze, giving Atlanta a 1-0 lead.
However, Montreal responded quickly, equalizing 1-1 in the 47th minute through Nathan Saliba, the 21-year-old midfielder, who netted his second professional goal.

Latte Lath struck again in the 63rd minute, putting Atlanta back in the lead after capitalizing on a goalkeeping mistake by Jonathan Sirois following a header from Miguel Almirón.
CF Montreal refused to give up and equalized 2-2 in the 71st minute with a goal from Prince Owusu, who finished from close range after a pass from George Campbell.
The decisive moment came in the 85th minute, when Edwin Mosquera, who had just entered the game two minutes earlier, broke the deadlock with a powerful shot that beat Sirois.
The Colombian winger showcased his skill, splitting two defenders at the edge of the box before securing the game-winning goal for Atlanta United.
Despite his errors, Sirois finished the match with five saves, preventing a wider margin of defeat.
