2024 Golden Globes winners are announced

After a 2023 marked by writer and actor strikes, film and TV stars dressed up for the red carpet on Sunday.

The 81st edition of the Golden Globes took place on January 7.

The writer strike ended in September and the actor strike ended in December.

Bad news for Mexicans

In a night full of emotion and expectations, Christopher Nolan won Best Director with his impressive work Oppenheimer.

The Boy and the Heron conquered the hearts of audiences and critics, taking home the award for Best Motion Picture – Animated.

Mexican director Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones was also nominated in that category for Wish.

The captivating tune, What Was I Made For? won Best Original Song, a nod to the brilliant collaboration between Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

Other 2024 Golden Globes winners

Cultural diversity and international cinematography was recognized with the victory of Anatomy of a Fall in the Best Non-English Language Film category.

Emma Stone’s talent garnered her the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award for her magnificent performance in Poor Things.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph won Best Supporting Actress for her powerful performance in The Holdovers.

Cillian Murphy’s impeccable dramatic turn in Oppenheimer did not go unnoticed, as he won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama. While Robert Downey Jr. won for Best Supporting Actor.

Barbie was a big winner of the night

The ingenious script for Anatomy of a Fall received the award for Best Screenplay, while Barbie won the new Outstanding Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award.

Television performances also shone brightly — Elizabeth Debicki won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in The Crown.

Ayo Edebiri took home the statuette for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy series for her role in The Bear, and Ali Wong stood out as Best Actress in a Limited Series with Beef.

Steven Yeun was awarded Best Actor in a Limited Series for Beef, Matthew Macfadyen won Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series for Succession.

2024 Golden Globes: The big winners in television

Kieran Culkin won for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his role on the same series.

Ricky Gervais took home the prize for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television for Armageddon, while Beef was crowned Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Sarah Snook shone as Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama thanks to her performance in Succession.
