Initially, the start date of the World Cup Qatar was scheduled for Monday, November 21, 2022. However, the organizers recently requested a last-minute change to allow the host team to play the first game on November 20.

This change would mean that the scheduled match between the Netherlands and Senegal will be moved so that the Qatar team is officially the first team to put the ball into play against the Ecuadorian team, on Saturday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. (7:00 a.m. ET).

The original start date of the World Cup in Qatar was scheduled for November 21, but now Qatar team will face Ecuador in the first official match, a decision that was made in conjunction with CONMEBOL.

The official schedule will be in the hands of FIFA, which is already debating with the rest of the authorities to approve the request and verify that the matches between the other groups are not affected by this last minute decision.
