In her more than fifty year career, Susana Dosamantes has become known as one of the most distinguished actresses on Mexican television, appearing in more than 60 films and in almost 20 telenovelas. Furthermore, her work included other areas, including plays with which she has toured the most important cities of the Mexican Republic.
Susana’s film debut was popular with the public and critics, leading her to more productions in both film and television. Her second film was Remolino de pasiones, in 1970, and a year later she made her debut in telenovelas, with a special appearance in the acclaimed production Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse.
Since then, she was seen in successful productions such as Ana del aire, Lo imperdonable, Amada enemiga, Eva Luna and, in more recent years, Tres Veces Ana and El Vuelo de la Victoria. Her outstanding performance as Rosaura Guzmán in the 1990 telenovela Morir para vivir garnered her a TV Novelas Award nomination in Mexico, in the category of «Best villain actress», winning the highest award in that year.
Although Dosamantes’s career has been prolific, it is notable that the actress’s roles have been sporadic and for most of the 1990s she remained away from the stage, returning in 1997 to participate in the melodrama Amada Enemiga.
In the last twenty years, she has only appeared in eight telenovelas, filmed in Mexico and the United States.

Personal life of Susana Dosamantes
Susana Dosamantes married Mexican lawyer Enrique Rubio when she was just beginning her career in 1969. The marriage to Rubio was brief, since they were only together for five years, finalizing their divorce in 1974. However, they had two children: Enrique and Paulina Rubio. The latter would grow up to be a world-famous singer, while Enrique devoted himself to law, following in his father’s footsteps.
In 2016, Paulina Rubio announced on social media that her mother was going having health problems, although at that time she did not specify what they were. Once out of danger, Dosamantes declared to the press that during a routine exam, they found a lump on her head. It was removed and tested and, in the end, turned out to be benign.
In mid-2019, Paulina Rubio’s mother was involved in a series of controversies, derived from certain statements that the singer’s ex-husband had made to the media. He stated that both Dosamantes and Rubio prevented him from having contact with his son, Andrea Nicolás.
