According to EFE, the city of New Orleans is experiencing a tense situation following a mass escape from one of its most criticized prisons.
Of the ten men who escaped from the New Orleans Justice Center, only three have been recaptured.
Local authorities, along with the FBI, continue an active operation to locate the seven remaining fugitives.
The escape occurred at midnight on Friday, when the inmates created a hole behind a toilet to exit the facility.
New Orleans Prison Break Was Meticulous
The only guard on duty at the time had left to get food, leaving the critical area unsupervised.
The maneuver was as daring as it was concerning: after piercing the wall, the inmates scaled a fence using blankets to avoid barbed wire.
They then fled on foot along a nearby interstate highway, as captured by the facility’s security cameras.
In a display of mockery or contempt for the authorities, the fugitives wrote next to the hole: “Too easy, haha.”

The footage shows the men quickly leaving the building, some wearing orange uniforms and others dressed in white.
The first to be captured was Kendall Myles, a murder suspect, who was found in a downtown parking lot.
Hours later, officers arrested Robert Moody, accused of assault, and Dkenan Dennis, charged with armed robbery.
Authorities consider the seven remaining fugitives dangerous and warn they may be armed.
FBI Offers Reward for Fugitives
The FBI has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to their capture.
Authorities did not detect the escape until several hours later, during a routine headcount on Friday morning.
This delay has raised alarms about the state of the prison system in Louisiana, particularly at this facility.
Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson has not ruled out the possibility that the inmates received external assistance in their escape.
New Orleans Prison Break Sparks Public Alarm
The situation has also reignited criticism of the structural conditions at the New Orleans Justice Center.
For years, various organizations have denounced the prison for poor maintenance, deficient security, and understaffing.
Civil rights organizations have called for urgent reforms in the management of the prison facility.
Meanwhile, the local community remains on edge, fearing that the fugitives may still be nearby.
