A private group from the United States announced on Wednesday its intention to restart the delivery of humanitarian aid in Gaza through a plan supported by both Washington and Israel.

This initiative, set to launch in the coming weeks, will effectively replace the United Nations’ intervention in the region.

The group, named the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, consists of former U.S. military personnel, private security companies, and humanitarian aid operators.

This organization is positioning itself as the new face of assistance in the region, sparking international controversy.

New Aid Plan in Gaza

These days, it will be announced that the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza will resume—but in a way that prevents it from falling into the hands of Hamas or other mafias. It was impossible to continue as before, as we were funding the enemy! 🇮🇱🔥🇵🇸 #Israel pic.twitter.com/ouxbxx30ve

Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in Gaza in October 2023, the entry of humanitarian aid into the Palestinian enclave has been limited and sporadic.

Despite efforts to provide food, fuel, and medicine, restrictions imposed by Israel have hindered the delivery of aid to the nearly 2 million Palestinians living in the area.

The situation worsened on March 2, when Israel once again blocked the entry of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, leaving hundreds of thousands at risk of starvation.

In this context, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation emerges as an alternative to offer relief to those affected.

Jake Wood, the group’s director and a former U.S. military servicemember, announced that operations will begin within weeks, according to a statement cited by The Washington Post.

Wood, founder of Team Rubicon—a private disaster response company—confirmed that the plans are being coordinated with Israeli authorities.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation plans to distribute 300 million meals within the first 90 days of operation, according to EFE and Infobae.

Additionally, Israel has agreed to allow the group to operate from existing distribution centers, facilitating logistics amid extremely difficult circumstances.

Is There Disagreement?

However, this plan has drawn strong opposition from international bodies.

The United Nations and other humanitarian organizations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, have voiced their disapproval of involving a private group in aid management.

Critics point to the lack of transparency and independent oversight in the handling of assistance.

The controversy centers on whether this plan—backed by Israel and the United States—will genuinely benefit Palestinians, or if it will instead compromise the impartiality and effectiveness of aid in Gaza.
