INCREASING TERROR! Just hours before the start of the largest elections in Mexico, the wave of violence continues to escalate around candidates for public office.

On Friday, Jorge Huerta, a candidate for councilor in Izúcar de Matamoros, was attacked near his home, where he ultimately lost his life.

Immediately, Mexican authorities began deploying operations to gather details of the assassination.

The homicide rate among candidates has risen to 36, according to an analysis by The New York Times.

JORGE HUERTA CABRERA KILLED

Jorge Huerta Cabrera, who was a candidate for councilor of the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), suffered a fatal attack near his home.

According to local media, Huerta received multiple gunshot wounds in the auxiliary board of San Nicolás Tolentino.

According to initial reports, the councilor candidate for the municipality of Izúcar de Matamoros was attacked by individuals on motorcycles.

The attack was directly targeted to the public office candidate, although the situation left more than one person injured, reported the magazine PROCESO.

The incident also injured his wife, Vanesa, and a campaign collaborator, who was not identified by the authorities.

Jaime Natale, state leader of the PVEM, pointed out that one of the perpetrators of the murder has been identified as Willebaldo Reyes Méndez.

Who is an alternate candidate for councilor on the ticket of the PRI, PAN, and PRD, according to the national publication magazine.

The identification of Reyes Méndez has triggered a wave of outrage and calls for justice among PVEM members and the local community.

On the social network X -formerly Twitter-, a video was shared that allegedly shows the moments prior to the murder.

In the recording, taken from the inside of a white van, Huerta Cabrera and his partner are seen arguing with a man wearing a hat.

The moment when this individual throws a punch at Huerta Cabrera is captured.

The situation escalates when the man with the hat calls another individual wearing a black hoodie and cap, who appears to wield a pistol and ends up shooting at them.
