According to reports from EFE Agency, who had access to a document from the defense of the drug lord, Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada pleaded not guilty to the crimes charged.

The drug lord faces serious charges in various US jurisdictions including Texas, New York, Columbia and Illinois.

However, it was not reported what charges Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada pleaded not guilty to, since the indictment to which access was obtained dates back to 2012.

There is likely an updated document that indicates if there are any additional charges against the drug trafficker.

For now, it is said that both ‘El Mayo’ and Chapo’s son are accused of manufacturing fentanyl and operating drug trafficking networks.

The US Department of Justice released the information and stated that the drug lord will be arraigned on July 31.

The drug trafficker’s arraignment will take place in the federal court of El Paso, Texas, and it was reported that he made a request.

‘El Mayo’ Zambada asked for permission not to appear in person and to be represented by his lawyers instead.

US authorities did not specify how the drug lords were arrested, but Zambada is said to have been unaware that the plane he was traveling on was heading to the United States.

The arrest of ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and the son of El Chapo took place upon disembarking from the plane which they were both on and more details will be released soon.
