In June 2023, Mayra Alejandra, known on social media as “La Mayrita,” and Erik Roberto Torres, “El Charro,” officially announced their legal separation.
The couple had gained significant popularity on TikTok for sharing reflections on marriage and family, as well as showing how they overcame their own relationship conflicts.
However, this time the problems outweighed their reconciliation efforts, and the breakup became final.
In recent statements shared on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, La Mayrita spoke openly about the reasons that led her to make this decision.
A physical change that fueled her decision
“I started seeing many things, and it took months to make this decision. It wasn’t overnight—it took months,” she said.
She recalled that her change began after seeking help to improve her health and lose weight.

“When I meet with you and say, ‘Hey, I need help losing weight,’ and I start seeing results, I thought, ‘Wow, Mayrita can be many things, Mayrita was being overshadowed,’” she expressed.
The influencer said that this process allowed her to discover new sides of herself she had never explored before.

“Mayrita was hidden. Mayrita can open a boutique, Mayrita can do this, can do that,” she commented with a smile.
She stated that this personal awakening was key in rethinking her relationship. “I said to myself, ‘You know what? I have to get up,’” she confessed.
When asked who made the final decision to separate, Mayra was clear.
“It was definitely me. I was already very tired, I noticed many patterns… It’s just that I was watching myself bloom, because since I started the (physical) transformation, I began seeing many things about myself that I was capable of, but I was being overshadowed and couldn’t,” she recounted.

La Mayrita emphasized that it wasn’t an impulsive move, but a months-long process in which she evaluated her emotional and personal well-being.
The separation announcement sparked varied reactions online, especially among followers who had seen the couple as an example of marital perseverance.
Although both had turned their experiences into inspiring content, this time the outcome showed that not all relationships can be saved through dialogue and determination.
