In a large-scale operation carried out in the state of New York, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of 133 undocumented migrants.
The operation took place from March 24 to 28 in coordination with various federal agencies, including the FBI, DEA, CBP, ATF, and USCIS.
The actions focused on western, central, and northern New York—areas considered strategic for national security.
ICE stated that the priority was to locate and arrest individuals with criminal records or those considered a threat to public, border, or national safety.

Among those detained, 20 had criminal records, and nine had previously been deported from the United States.
According to ICE, the operation aimed not only to enforce immigration laws but also to safeguard local communities from potential risks.

The agency emphasized that efforts like this are part of an ongoing strategy to combat cross-border criminal activities.
Notable cases include a 49-year-old man from Trinidad and Tobago convicted of murder.
Also arrested was a 66-year-old man from the Dominican Republic convicted of sexual conduct with a minor.
Another detainee was a 32-year-old Salvadoran man convicted of murder and gang-related assault.
Authorities also arrested a 70-year-old Dominican man with prior convictions for homicide and criminal sale of controlled substances.
A 50-year-old Chinese citizen was detained for assault, and a 42-year-old Mexican man was arrested for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.
The operation also included the arrest of a 24-year-old Ecuadorian with multiple DUI convictions.
Authorities detained a 43-year-old South African holding an H-2A visa for distributing and possessing child pornography.
Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Buffalo, highlighted the importance of interagency cooperation for the operation’s success.
Keegan noted that using a whole-of-government approach allows ICE and its partners to act more effectively in protecting New York residents.
“I commend our partners at the FBI, CBP, ATF, DEA, DSS, and USMS for their unwavering commitment to this mission,” she said in an official statement.
The operation is part of a series of federal efforts to strengthen immigration enforcement and target serious crimes associated with irregular immigration.
ICE reminded the public that immigration law allows for the arrest of individuals without legal authorization, especially those with criminal backgrounds.
Authorities will evaluate each case individually to determine legal proceedings, including possible deportation.
The agency urged the public to report suspicious activities and help identify dangerous individuals.
While federal officials support the operation, migrant advocacy groups warn about its human impact.
Some organizations argue that such raids can instill fear in immigrant communities and make it harder to access essential services like healthcare and education.
ICE, for its part, reiterated that its operations target individuals who pose specific threats and are not indiscriminate mass raids, according to Infobae.
