Florida rapper killed outside his home after daring critics to come get him

Law enforcement authorities confirmed that a Florida rapper named Rollie Bands was shot and killed as he stood outside the apartment complex where he resided in Tampa. The incident occurred minutes after he challenged his critics to confront him in an Instagram post.

«A lot of these n****s know where I live at fr,,» the rapper wrote on his Instagram Story, according to the New York post on Tuesday, July 26. “I sleep in peace. If a n***a want smoke I’m at my crib in 5 mins,” he added in the message.

Florida rapper Rollie Bands shot to death

Just five minutes after his post, around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 22, the Florida rapper was shot to death in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lived. Although he was rushed to an area hospital, he did not survive, the Post stated.

The suspects, who police believe knew Rollie Bands and targeted him, fled the crime scene in a vehicle whose characteristics were not specified in the New York Post report. On early Tuesday morning the killers were still at large.

«At this time, the shooting does not appear random, as the suspects and victim are possibly known to each other,» the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said in the report, which did not mention whether the Rollie Bands Instagram post is directly linked to the incident.

According to HipHopDX, social media has given rise to numerous murders over the years. In 2020, Pop Smoke accidentally revealed the address of his Hollywood Hills residence on Instagram and was later the victim of a home invasion, resulting in his untimely death.

The Sun reported on Tuesday that fans paid tribute to the artist. One user wrote: «Rest in paradise, Rollie Bands.» Another commented: “So sad and pointless. He should still be alive.» Another follower tweeted: «Sending prayers and condolences to his family and friends.»
