BACK TO SCHOOL! Summer is over, children are going back to school and with this the madness of the school routine starts, which includes preparing lunches every day. But don’t worry! We have eight Costco items to make easy school lunches.
Parents are always looking for new ideas and new options, because it is really a challenge to try to prepare delicious and healthy meals for children on a daily basis that are also inexpensive. Patty Catalano, a brilliant mom, gives us some great tips.
8 Costco items to make easy school lunches

The first Costco item is guacamole! Catalano recommends Kirkland Signature Organic Chunky Guacamole that comes in a package of 16 cups (2.5 ounces each) and is sold at Costco for $17.69. Turns out, they’re perfect for tossing into a lunch box alongside tortilla chips and shredded cheese so kids can make their own nachos. This is just an idea, guacamole is very versatile and can go with toast or with other vegetables.
A second option would be Stonyfield Organic Yogurt, which comes in packs of 24 squeeze tubes for $8.69. Fruit-flavored yogurt is often very popular with kids, you just need to freeze it and pack it in the morning so it’s still cold for lunch.
Healthy meals for school

Patty’s third idea is the Swiss Grilled Chicken and Cheese Rolls. They cost $6.99 per pound and a tray contains about 2.5 pounds (equivalent to about 12 rolls). Buying these rolls will save you the time of having to prepare food, because they come ready to eat.
Another good idea are Bear Fruit Rolls which you get at Costco in 48-roll packages for $9.99. The good news is that these snacks contain no added sugar because they rely on the natural sweetness of fruit. That is to say, here we have fruit and sweets in a single food.
More inexpensive lunch items

The Busseto Foods Bite Size Salami and Provolone Cheese is a very good option, since it comes in 8 packages of 3 ounces each and costs $11.99. They are ideal for those days when you are in a hurry, because you just have to take it and put it in the lunch box with some bread and some fruit.
Another delicious option for snacks are Organic Apple Chips which come in packs of 20 bags containing 0.5 ounces each and cost $16.99. If you’re out of fresh fruit at home, this could be a great option for the kids.
Back to school happy and healthy

You can also buy mozzarella cheese. What a treat! At Costco they sell 24 packages of 1 ounce of the BelGioioso Fresh Mozzarella Snacking Cheese for $10.39. It is very easy to open and serve, since they already come in individual packages.
Finally, you could buy 24 bags of Made Good Granola Minis which are $11.99 at Costco. These organic bites, which work perfectly as snacks, are nut-free, although they do come with chocolate chips. They are hard to resist!
