The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has identified the suspect in the shooting at Apalachee High School.

The attacker is Colt Gray, a 14-year-old student at the school.

Despite his young age, Gray will be tried as an adult on charges of murder.

The shooting took place on the morning of Wednesday, September 4.

Security Protocols and Colt Gray’s Background

Initially, only police activity at the school was reported.

Students were moved to the athletic field as part of safety protocols.

There, they gathered to pray for the victims of the attack.

This is not the first time Colt Gray has made school shooting threats.

In 2023, he issued similar warnings, according to the FBI.

In May of that year, he was questioned for a threat posted on a video game website.

Gray denied making the threats, which included photos of guns.

Gray’s father confirmed that they had guns at home, but insisted his son did not have access to them.

Detectives closed the case after finding no justification for the threats.

The deceased victims have been identified as Mason Schermerhorn, Christian Angulo, Christina Irimie, and Richard Aspinwall.

Schermerhorn and Angulo, both 14, were students at the school.

Irimie and Aspinwall were math teachers; Aspinwall also coached soccer.
