Christopher Scholtes, the father accused of leaving his 2-year-old daughter in a hot car, made a 911 call that has been released.
«My baby was in the car. She’s not responding. Oh my God, oh my God,» Christopher Scholtes told the 911 operator.
Parker Scholtes died after her father allegedly left her in the car during a hot day.
The father claimed the girl was asleep and he didn’t want to wake her, leaving the car running with the air conditioning on.
Dr. Erika Scholtes discovers tragedy at home
Parker’s mother, Dr. Erika Scholtes, arrived home to find the car turned off and without air conditioning.
The 2-year-old girl was unresponsive.
Authorities reported Parker’s body temperature was 108 degrees Fahrenheit.
The 911 operator instructed Christopher to begin CPR.
«Yes, we’re starting CPR,» Christopher said. «My wife is a doctor.»
Erika Scholtes was heard asking her husband what had happened. «You left the car running,» she asked.
«I did, but it shuts off on its own. I’ve been checking,» Christopher was heard saying.
Erika counted the chest compressions.
Rescuers took Parker to the hospital, but she did not survive.
Christopher Scholtes was arrested. Marana, Arizona police say he allegedly «became distracted playing his video game and storing his food.»
Erika spoke at a court hearing.
«It was a huge mistake and I don’t think it represents him,» Erika said.
