In a viral video shared on Univision’s official Instagram, Chiquis Rivera recounts a painful experience she had with her mother, Jenni Rivera, at the age of 14.

“It was the first time my mom didn’t talk to me for two months, and it was really a misunderstanding,” Chiquis recalls.

During that time, Jenni reacted harshly: “She cut my hair; I was literally lying on the couch, and she woke me up with scissors in her hand.”

Chiquis shares that after the incident, she had to move to her grandmother’s house: “And my mom would come over, but she wouldn’t talk to me, as if I didn’t exist.”

Her 15th birthday was especially painful: “My mom didn’t wish me a happy birthday.”

Finally, Chiquis Rivera remembers the moment her mother began speaking to her again: “One day, she came to my grandmother’s house, grabbed my ‘lonjita,’ and said, ‘It’s time for you to come back home.’”

“Thanks to that ‘lonjita,’ my mom spoke to me,” Chiquis said with relief, recalling the moment they reconnected.

The mother-daughter relationship was complicated, marked by misunderstandings and challenges.

Chiquis Rivera has shared on numerous occasions how difficult it was for Jenni to be a young mother.
