The tragic death of César Herrera Ávalos occurred in the early morning and police are still searching for surveillance videos at the murder scene.

On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 1:30 in the morning, police received a call about a shooting.

Officers from the Dallas Police Department (DPD) responded to the scene to investigate the report of gunshots.

Outside a business, it is not specified exactly which one, DPD officers found evidence of the shooting. However, no one was injured there.

Shortly after, the officer on duty in the emergency room of a nearby hospital announced that a Hispanic man who had been shot had just arrived.

Someone took the victim to the hospital

Doctors in the emergency room were unable to save his life after the shooting.

The Hispanic man was identified at the hospital as César Herrera Ávalos and the DPD Homicide Division took over the investigation.

One detail that the detectives discovered was that someone in a private car had taken him to the emergency room.

The DPD Homicide Division is still gathering information to find out who drove Herrera Ávalos to the hospital.

Police ask for help from the Hispanic community

César Herrera Ávalos was shot on the corner of West Illinois Avenue and South Cockret Hill Road in southwest Dallas.

Detectives from the DPD Homicide Division revealed that the case remains open and they are looking for surveillance videos from the scene that reveal details of the crime.

At the site where César Herrera Ávalos was fatally shot, there are two gas stations, several restaurants and other Hispanic-owned businesses.

Now Officer Johnson, of the DPD, is asking the Hispanic community in Texas to to call 469.271.6328 with any information about the cirme.

César Herrera Ávalos’ family is ‘devastated’

Cinthia Ceceña started a GoFundMe campaign titled In memory of César Alfonso ‘El Pachuco’.

“They took his life from him at dawn, leaving his widowed wife and three children without their father. His family is very devastated,” Ceceña wrote.

“I ask with all my heart that you support us in raising enough funds to give him a Christian burial,” she continued.

Ceceña closes her request saying: “We thank you in advance to all those who have been accompanying us in these difficult times.”

Deaths from firearms are on the rise

César Herrera Ávalos’ tragic death in Dallas, Texas, is one of the many gun deaths in the United States.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, 6,302 people have been shot to death in 2024.

As of Monday, May 20, 2024, a total of 11,541 people were seriously injured by firearms.

Furthermore, the United States already has 165 mass shootings in which at least four people died in the same violent event.
