On Tuesday night, the sad news about the death of Maria Montejo, who is also the daughter of the Golden Cinema actress, Carmen Montejo, was announced. It is believed that she could have died at around 7 PM, but that has not been confirmed.

One of the first to share the news was Hugo Alexander Maldonado, a reporter for the program Sale el Sol, who wrote: «The death of actress María Montejo, daughter of actress Carmen Montejo (RIP) and mother of comedian Radamés de Jesús, has been reported.»

At first, it was unknown what could have happened to the beloved actress, but minutes later Maldonado himself confirmed on Twitter that the cause of María Montejo’s death had been a “cerebral embolism”, also known as a cerebrovascular accident.

The world of acting

María Montejo is the daughter of Mexican actress Carmen Montejo and Manuel González Ortega. She studied at the Televisa Academy and debuted as an actress in 1967 when she appeared in various plays such as The trial of our children (1967) and Duel of passions (1968).

Her talent managed to take over the small screen and she appeared in telenovelas such as Mágica Juventud, Empezar de nuevo, Tú y yo and Serafín. At the end of her career, Montejo appeared in several episodes of Mujer, casos de la vida real, a program hosted by Silvia Pinal.

A long acting career

María Montejo worked on a couple of projects with her mother Carmen Montejo. Both acted in the movie The true vocation of Magdalena and in the telenovela Juventud, where Laura Zapata and Gloria Mayo were also part of the cast. Finally, the Mexican actress decided to withdraw from the artistic world in 2003.
