Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most viral questions was not who would take over the throne or when the funeral would take place, but rather, people were worried about the fate of the English monarch’s beloved corgis. It has been reported that the two corgis who survived the queen, Muick and Sandy, already have a new home.

Corgis and Queen Elizabeth II have a backstory dating back to her childhood. For that reason, when the monarch took the throne, her adorable corgis became a personal seal of the crown and quickly became popular. These nice furry pups are described as affectionate, playful and extremely loyal and they were a constant presence in the queen’s life.

After an image was released, allegedly showing Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis being transported by royal employees after her death, one of the most frequent questions on social media was what would happen to them now. The royal family quickly put their fears to rest.

According to a spokesman for the Royal House, Muick and Sandy, Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis, will remain in the custody of the controversial Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Milenio reported. Although, it was also stated that the cute corgis will go to live with Princess Beatrice for a while.

It is known that Prince Andrew, the third son of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Philip, was the monarch’s favorite son. According to local media, the decision was made because the prince gave her Muick, Fergus and Sandy.

Queen Elizabeth had not gotten any new pets in recent years because she was afraid to leave them behind when she died. However, in 2021 she was given two puppies as the Covid-19 pandemic intensified and she was increasingly isolated. Her son gave her three puppies but one of them died. When Prince Philip of Edinburgh passed away in 2021, Queen Elizabeth II was given a furry companion by her son and granddaughters. Sandy, the last corgi who came into the monarch’s life. According to local media, the queen made her son, Prince Andrew, promise that he would take care of the dogs if something happened to her, The Sun reported.

The promise remained in force and it is said that Andrew or Beatrice took care of Muick and Sandy when Queen Elizabeth II could no longer go out for her walks with them. These two furry companions are not the only ones who will be left with the prince and his family. Candy, the queen’s dorgi, is said to be living with them as well.

So far, it is known that Queen Elizabeth II left behind two corgis, Muick and Sandy, a dorgi named Candy, and a cocker spaniel. At the moment, it has been suggested that if Prince Andrew does not adopt Candy, she could end up in the hands of a person from the monarch’s service, The Sun reported.

Lissy, Queen Elizabeth II’s cocker spaniel, could remain with her trainer Ian Openshaw. Lissy is known for being the current Kennel Club cocker spaniel gundog champion and one of Queen Elizabeth’s most faithful pets, so it remains to be seen she will remain with her trainer, reported The Sun. The history of corgis and royalty dates back to Queen Elizabeth’s childhood. Her father, King George VI, who was the last emperor of India, gave both Elizabeth and Margaret a little corgi they named «Dookie.» In some royal photographs, the princesses can be seen with the cute puppy.

Princess Elizabeth fell in love with corgis and when she turned 18, she got her own. From that moment on, she always with the corgis that came into her life  — according to what they say, there have been 30 corgis — and each one of them was raised in litters of puppies by the monarch herself.
