Tesla has made more than three million cars, CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Sunday. Of that total, the factory in Shanghai has manufactured one million, according to a tweet quoted by CNBC. “Congratulations to Giga Shanghai for building the millionth car! Total Teslas now exceeds 3 million,” Musk tweeted.

The Reforma Agency reported that Musk’s announcement comes after months of closures and parts shortages in China that have threatened Tesla’s vehicle production, and suggests that the factory in Shanghai is producing a significant number of new vehicles after opening in 2018.
