Jennette McCurdy rose to fame in 2007 when she played Sam Puckett, one of the main characters on the hit television series iCarly. The show was so well known and beloved that it ran for six seasons. Now everything has taken an unexpected turn since the actress revealed how bad she had it in her years as a star.

McCurdy has a released a new book where she talks about the abuse she experienced at the hands of her mother, Debra McCurdy, when she was a child star. Everyone was surprised by the book’s title but no one guessed why she called it I’m Glad My Mom Died.

How did Jennette McCurdy start her career?

Actress and singer Jenette McCurdy was born in 1992 in Garden Grove, California. She was interested in acting from the time she was little made her debut in 2000, when she appeared on an episode of MADtv. From then on, she developed a successful and promising career, mainly on television.

Her success as a child star

However, it was television that brought McCurdy international fame. In 2007, she began starring in the Nickelodeon series iCarly, where she played Sam Puckett. The series premiered in September of that year and was immediately popular. In 2008 and 2009 she was nominated for the Young Artist Awards for her work on iCarly.

In 2010 she appeared in the series True Jackson VP in the role of Pinky, a frenemy of Jackson, played by Keke Palmer. She became a star

In August 2012 it was reported that McCurdy would have a series on Nickelodeon called Sam and Cat, a spin-off of iCarly and Victorious. It was made by the same creator of both series, Dan Schneider and stars Jennette McCurdy as Sam Puckett and Ariana Grande as Cat Valentine.

Jennette McCurdy exposes her mother’s abuse

This year she published her book, I’m Glad My Mom Died. Although the title is shocking, she says that after years of therapy and healing many wounds, she was able to write her memoir. Her fans were surprised to hear she’d been dealing with that for so long.

The book describes the abuse she experienced in a dark, but humorous way and the cover photo is her holding a pink urn filled with confetti.
