Who attacked Joshua Sandoval and left him disfigured? (PHOTOS)

Joshua Sandoval was found on a Texas highway with injuries so severe he was nearly unrecognizable and remains in critical condition. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in San Antonio needs the help of the community to solve the brutal attack to the young man.

The attack on Joshua Sandoval was so heinous that Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar himself described the crime as a «horrific attempted murder» when he arrived at the scene where the Hispanic man was found nearly dead. Due to his condition, Sandoval was unable to tell authorities anything about what happened.

Who attacked young Joshua Sandoval?

At 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022, a motorist called 911 to report that a person was injured and lying on the side of the road. Multiple BCSO patrol cars went to 11200 La Vernia Road in eastern Bexar County.

The area from where the report was made is surrounded by cattle ranches with little traveled two-lane roads. BCSO agents, when they arrived at the scene, found a young Hispanic man with various injuries on his face and body. The officers did not know how the young man had been injured.

Joshua Sandoval was lying on the side of a country road

The young man was identified by authorities as  24-year-old Joshua Sandoval of New Braunfels, Texas, a town northeast of San Antonio. In New Braunfels there are no official reports about the alleged kidnapping of young Joshua Sandoval.

Joshua Sandoval’s injuries on his face and torso were so severe that BCSO officers couldn’t tell if the man had been stabbed or shot. He was rushed to the hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to be treated for his injuries.

«These people… seem to have a lot of hate.»

According to the authorities, when the first BCSO patrolmen arrived to attend to Joshua Sandoval, the young man was tied up. Sandoval has not been able to make any statements because he is in very critical condition due to the seriousness of his multiple injuries.

«These people, whoever did this to him, they seem to have had a lot of hate, a lot of anger in their attempt to murder this young man… leaving him here to die on a country road is quite a heartbreaking situation,» said Javier Salazar, the sheriff of Bexar County.

Authorities ask for help to solve the crime

Javier Salazar, Bexar County Sheriff, explained that BCSO Homicide Division detectives know that Joshua Sandoval was stabbed many times. The detectives are investigating his family and friends in their search for his attackers.

Detectives from the BCSO Homicide Division ask the Hispanic community that if anyone has any reliable leads on Joshua Sandoval’s cell phone and attackers, contact their office at 210.224.7867. All tips will remain anonymous.
