Mario Guevara is fired by the police when he goes to the home of Albert López, pastor of the Iglesia Bautista Puerta Abierta in the city of McLeansville, who kicked out the church.

Journalist Mario Guevara visited the home of the controversial pastor in search of interviewing a relative of the 54-year-old man. However the family called the police.

The reporter went to ring the doorbell at the home of the pastor who was caught up in the scandal this week. However, the person who was at the home refused to speak to Mario Guevara.

After several attempts to communicate with possible relatives,

the reporter realized that the authorities had been notified of their presence.

Minutes later, Mario Guevara was questioned by two police officers, to whom he explained the reason for his visit and identified himself properly. Afterwards, the officers went to the pastor’s house, where they were received by the alleged relatives.

The Hispanic, for ethical reasons, remained at home waiting for the authorities to review his information and to verify that he was doing his job. After a few minutes, the officers left the house to talk to Mario again.

ICE arrests pastor who threw out parishioner by police

After the scandal that occurred this week in an evangelical congregation in North Carolina where a parishioner was arrested, the arrest of the pastor who was fired by the police has now been announced.

The County Sheriff’s Office Rockingham announced on its website that together with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) they have just arrested Albert López, pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church of the city of McLeansville.

The operation in which the religious leader was arrested was carried out at his home located in Greensboro, a few miles from the church where the controversial incident took place.

The 54-year-old López, the authorities had been looking for him since 2011 in connection with a series of sexual abuse to the detriment of several minors.

The man had remained far from the radar of the authorities, until last Sunday, when he decided to remove Félix Arias Evangelista by force.

Until yesterday the reason for the dispute between the two was unknown, but now the outlook is clearer.

López faces five serious charges, including rape, sexual assault and perversion of minors.

The North Carolina authorities have set him a bond of 3 million dollars for the crimes he is charged with.

Chronicle: New scandal in evangelical church shakes community

A video that has gone viral on social media can be seen as a member of the Open Door Baptist Church in the city of McLeansville is detained by local authorities for refusing to leave the precinct.

The person who was handcuffed was identified as Félix Arias Evangelista, whom they accused of breaking and entering.

Guilford County police arrived at the scene after receiving a call that someone had trespassed at the ministry.

The uniformed officers then approached Arias in full religious service and asked him to leave, but another person yelled «we are in a church», although that did not disturb the officers at all.

“He was kindly asked to leave, but Mr. Arias refused. The pastor (of the congregation) had also requested it, but he did not comply either, so we had to remove him, ”the Guilford Sheriff’s Office reported in a statement.
