Starting on Tuesday, May 17, Taco Bell offered the Mexican pizza for the first time since it was taken off the menu for two years. The truth is that the lovers of this delicious dish requested it so much that the restaurant chain finally decided to answer their wishes and bring it back.

Well… the truth is that the company announced that it will sell Mexican Pizza again in its restaurants starting on May 19 but some fans got early access to their favorite dish just by logging onto the Taco Bell app.

This opportunity to enjoy the Mexican Pizza again sooner than expected was only be available on May 17th and 18th, just before it becomes available to the general public. Fans were able to log onto the app and redeem a special offer.

“I missed you a lot. Starting today, May 17, Rewards members get early access to Mexican pizza only in the app,» Taco Bell announced on its Twitter account. They also detailed that the offer will be available at participating locations and only while supplies last.

In April, Taco Bell announced that it would bring back the Mexican Pizza, a dish that they had to removed in 2020 due strategies they took to optimize their menu in the midst of pandemic difficulties.

Fans ask for the return of the Mexican Pizza

Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell, said in a statement last month that «Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand and I am pleased to be able to give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican pizza home, where belongs.”

The company’s decision comes almost two years after removing the dish from the menu. Fans of the Mexican Pizza put together a large protest and a petition on social media demanding that Taco Bell bring back their favorite food. The pressure campaign paid off!

How much will the Mexican Pizza cost?

The Irvine, California-based fast food chain announced the Mexican Pizza with its crispy base, refried beans, a layer of beef, pizza sauce, cheese and tomatoes, will cost $4.49. According to Forbes it will be only 60 cents more than it was when it came off the menu.

“Our menu is full of fan favorites, but Mexican Pizza is at the top of that list. From its flashy introduction to menus in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’ to its inspiration behind the creation of infamous jingles, Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand,» Taco Bell CEO added in the statement.
