Telemundo and Univisión journalist Edna Schmidt recently died at just 51.
There were many rumors about what happened but her cause of death has finally been revealed.
According to Primer Impacto, the Univision News host was declared brain.
A friend of hers had previously reported that she was admitted to a hospital.

Despierta América shared the sad news of Edna Schmidt’s death on Instagram.

María Elena Salinas mourns Edna Schmidt’s death
One of the first personalities to react to this sad news was the journalist María Elena Salinas.

Edna Schmidt suffered from depression
In an interview with Neida Sandoval last April, Edna Schmidt revealed that she suffered from depression.
She also said she felt betrayed when Univision fired her.
“I feel nostalgic, this year has been very hard , I lost my mommy, and it has not been easy, but like you, we are oaks,» she said on that occasion.
Journalist Lourdes Stephen said the following about Edna’s death: “What sad news! May God have her in his holy glory.”

Aureliano Salgado shared a series of images on Instagram where he appears with Edna Schmidt.

Edna Schmidt worked for Univisión and Telemundo
Throughout her career, Edna Schmidt was involved in several controversies.
She was a well-known reporter who, some years ago alleged she was mistreated by Univisión.
She began her career as a journalist in her native Puerto Rico, when she was still very young.
She eventually moved to the United States where she wound up working for the two most popular Spanish-language networks in the country.
She struggled with alcoholism
One of the most painful moments in her entire career was in 2011, when she was fired by Univision after they found her in the parking lot drinking an alcoholic beverage.
She then went into treatment.
Everything seemed to indicate things were looking up for Edna Schmidt when he returned to television, on Telemundo in Chicago.
However, this only lasted two years before she accused the network of discrimination, according to La Opinion.
She suffered from depression
In April 2021, Edna Schmidt had reappeared and gave an interview to reporter Neida Sandoval.
She said that she was depressed since she had supposedly been betrayed by Univision when she was fired.
The interview was shared on Neida’s YouTube channel.
Schmidt said: “I feel nostalgic, this year has been very hard, I lost my Mommy, and it hasn’t been easy, but like you, we are oaks.»
Edna Schmidt’s cause of death is still uncertain
Edna Schmidt’s official cause of death has not been revealed.
It was reported that she was pronounced brain dead after a fall.
Some speculate that she was still having problems with alcohol and this may have contributed to her demise.
