A woman identified as Patricia Castillo was caught on video when she set fire to a man in a local park, according to police cited by several media outlets, including the New York Post, CBS News and Fox 13.

Patricia Castillo, 48, doused the victim with gasoline while he was lying on the grass in a park in Sanger, near Fresno, California, shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 7. She then set him on fire, detailed the police in a Facebook post.

«The video shows Castillo approaching the victim and pouring a liquid from a glass on (him), and she and the victim appear to be arguing before Castillo lights a lighter and sets the victim on fire,» the Sanger Police Department wrote in the statement that accompanied the photograph of the arrested woman.

After the shocking incident, the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that fortunately were not life-threatening, police stated. Patricia Castillo was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson and conspiracy.

The disturbing images captured by a surveillance camera were released by the police, the New York Post reported. In addition, the authorities indicated that a second person, identified as Leonard Hawkins (43), was also arrested for allegedly providing the flammable liquid to Patricia Castillo. However, it was not clear what he was accused of.

Police have not yet said if Patricia Castillo and the victim, who was not identified, knew each other or why she set him on fire in the park. A spokesman for the Sanger Police Department told the New York Post on Sunday that the incident remains under investigation.

«It’s horrible what they did to that man»

«Horrible. I pray for the victim.” “It’s sad to see. Sanger has been through a lot, the only difference is the media, the cameras. So it’s like there’s nothing to hide, may the three of you get the help you need, in Jesus’ Name. This whole world is ending. Praying for Sanger,” two users commented on the police Facebook post.

Other people commented: “Good job by Sanger officers, and may the victim get well soon and they (defendants) pay for their evil.” “I just saw the video on the news, it’s horrible what they did to that man. Both need to be punished for the rest of their lives.»
