Chilling crime shocks New Orleans. A mother stabbed her 4-year-old daughter to death, seriously injured her 2-year-old son and then posted a video on Instagram where she confessed to the terrible crime, police reported on Monday, August 8.

The New Orleans, Louisiana, mother was arrested Sunday, after a brief hospitalization, on suspicion of fatally stabbing her 4-year-old daughter and seriously injuring her 2-year-old son, police told Boston 25 News on Monday night.

Jenee Pedesclaux, 32, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a minor in connection with the double stabbing, which was reported at 11:17 a.m. Sunday, local time, according to WVUE.

NOLA.com reported that an uncle identified the children as Paris and Jaceon Roberts. Moments after the stabbing, a woman believed to be Jenee Pedesclaux posted a short video on Instagram with blood still dripping down her chest, said WWL.

In the video, which has since been removed from that social network, the woman said: “I’m done. My children are dead. I’m done. I’m done with life.» According to NOLA.com, Jenne Pedesclaux was embroiled in a custody dispute with their father, Jermaine Roberts, who reportedly sued her in April seeking joint custody that would allow him to see the little ones on the weekends.

In court documents, Jermaine Roberts argued that Jenne Pedesclaux «was not stable or providing a healthy environment for children,» NOLA.com reported. Officials with the New Orleans Police Department confirmed that both children were transported to an area hospital in a private vehicle. The little girl died shortly after their arrival and the boy remained in critical condition as of Monday night, WWL said.

The father’s dramatic rescue

Surveillance camera video obtained by Fox 8 showed a man, believed to be Jermaine Roberts, arriving at the house in a white pickup and running inside. Minutes later, the same man is seen running back to the truck with the injured children. In fact, the older victim tripped and fell on the sidewalk, before getting up to run again.

Neighbors who did not wish to be identified told Fox 8 that it was the Instagram post that alerted the father that his children were in serious danger or injured. When he arrived at the house, the man broke and climbed through a front window to rescue the children, taking them to the hospital himself.

Why were the parents in a custody dispute?

In court documents, Jermain Roberts said that Jenne Pedescleaux did not allow him to see the children and that she «was not stable or providing a healthy environment for the children.» A hearing had already been set for later this month over custody, NOLA.com stated.
