A 2020 McLaren 600 LT was abandoned on the side of the road in Washington state after its owner apparently left the luxury sports car, valued at more than $200,000, behind after crashing into a guardrail on a public highway, according to the Post.

The elegant and expensive coupé can reach speeds of up to 124 MPH in less than 10 seconds, although it stopped after apparently colliding with a guardrail along state highway 512 near Tacoma, according to Washington state authorities.

The state police published several photos of the destroyed white McLaren on Twitter early Tuesday morning and stated that police officers were investigating the accident classified as a hit-and-run, according to the New York Post.

When a Twitter user responded to the Tweet asking if there were injuries in the accident, police officer Robert Reyer replied: “We are not sure. The driver fled the scene.» That is, he managed to get out of the car and leave the area undetected.

The car is worth more than $200,000

Photos show the car, which may be priced upwards of $250,000, wedged under the guardrail with the scissor door open on the driver’s side. Police officer John Dattilo told the Oregonian Wednesday that authorities have not found the owner of the vehicle, which can reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and was towed away Monday night.

“These kinds of accidents happen all the time, when people don’t want to get in trouble, so they leave the car behind,” Dattilo told the Oregonian. «But it’s not necessarily common for it to be a $200,000 McLaren.» The sports car, which still had the dealer plates, was not reported stolen and the registered owner lives in Washington, Dattilo told the outlet.
