Marilu Ramirez Olmedo was shot to death in Corcoran, California by her boyfriend Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza. Pulido Esparza was the one who called 911 to report the death of Ramírez Olmedo. However, he said that the young woman had committed suicide.

The Corcoran Police Department (CPD) found several inconsistencies in 34-year-old Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza’s statement regarding the death of 32-year-old Marilu Ramírez Olmedo so they began to investigate the crime.

Marilu Ramírez Olmedo was the mother of three young children

Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza is also a law enforcement officer and he worked in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) as a guard assigned to assist inmates in addiction rehabilitation programs.

When Marilu Ramírez Olmedo was shot to death by her boyfriend, Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza, the woman’s three young children were also in the house. It is not known if the children witnessed their mother’s death. The children are now in the custody of relatives.

The killer lied when reporting the crime

The CPD reported that, on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at 7:00 a.m., a man called 911 to report that his girlfriend, Marilu Ramírez Olmedo, had tried to take her own life by shooting herself in the head.

Several CPD officers and paramedics from the Corcoran Fire Department (CFD) were dispatched to the couple’s home at 1938 Evergreen Drive in response to the emergency call where they attempted to save her life.

However, when the police and paramedics arrived on the scene, they discovered that there was nothing they could do for Marilu Ramírez Olmedo and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Homicide Division responded to the home following the suicide report.

Pulido Esparza offered his version of events and told the CPD officers that he and his girlfriend, Marilu Ramírez Olmedo, had gotten into a fight the night before. He said they could not resolve their differences. He said she was still upset in the morning, which led her to take a gun and kill herself.

Luis Antonio Ramírez Olmedo is in jail

Reuben Shortnacy, Chief of the CPD, said in a statement that his department charged Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza with one count of homicide for the death of his girlfriend. The man has been booked into the Kings County Jail.

The CDCR authorities revealed that Luis Antonio Pulido Esparza had already been discharged from the service after being arrested. According to the police, Pulido Esparza had been working with inmates dealing with addiction for 10 years.

Marilu Ramírez Olmedo, one more victim of gun violence

The murder of Marilu Ramírez Olmedo is one more case of gun violence. The non-profit organization National Gun Violence Archive, reported that so far in 2022, 7,781 people have already been shot to death.
