  • Jen Psaki, press secretary of the White House, plans to resign from her position in April.
  • She will go to a news network in the United States.
  • The contract that she will have with the television network MSNBC.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki plans to resign in April, but it is not known who will replace her, according to information first published by Axios and cited by CNN.

The news comes in the midst of many issues regarding the current administration, which is experiencing critical moments due to the issue of the increase of migrants, COVID-19, and the war in Ukraine. It seems Psaki is taking the opportunity to shake off all the pressure she has been getting by working for the president.

When will she leave the White House?

Sources very close to her have accepted that the press secretary plans to «abandon ship» in the coming weeks. She does not have a signed contract yet with NBC but there have been negotiations already.

According to the information we have, the press secretary is going to be in a program for the NBC broadcast platform Peacock. She would also appear on MSNBC shows. However, MSNBC declined to comment on the details of the alleged deal and Psaki’s  new roles.

Is the date already set?

When questioning the White House about who would take Jen Psaki’s place, no one wanted to answer the question. However, the hierarchical order indicates that it will be Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. But White House communications director Kate Bedingfield, who briefed reporters this week, is also a likely candidate.

Sources consulted by CNN said that several networks were seeking the services of the one close to Joe Biden. Although an attempt was made to find out first-hand the position of the press secretary, no response was obtained, but there is already a definite date when she is expected to stop working for the administration. Will history repeat itself?

If Psaki’s departure is confirmed, she will be the second senior White House communications official to leave for the network. Having previously left the official residence earlier this year, Symone Sanders, who was Vice President Kamala Harris’s chief spokesperson, will have an MSNBC show on weekends in May.

Psaki first took office in January 2021. In the past few years, she has worked as a political commentator for CNN. But she previously worked in the Barack Obama administration as director of communications for the White House and spokesperson for the State Department, so she already has a good track record in public administration.
